Nocturnal adventure

Making a positive difference in our community – that’s what characterizes our sponsors. Like us, they want to be part of the solution and have committed to supporting Good Neighbour financially.

A few weeks ago our team set up a magnificent event to thank our sponsors during a nocturnal adventure. In the bush in Pyes Pa, our sponsors were treated to a night out with a glow worm walk, fire pits, live music by the wonderful Midnight Fizz and a delicious hot dessert. It was an amazing night!

With over 500 volunteers, 13 staff and 6 departments all dedicated to helping the community, we are incredibly lucky to have support from all our fantastic sponsors!

An inspirational example
One of our main sponsors, who’s also a Good Neighbour board member, is AJ McKean from Synergy Technologies. During the sponsor event AJ highlighted the ‘why’ behind his commitment to Good Neighbour in his speech. Here’s an excerpt from it:

“With a commitment to donate at least 10% of all operating profit to organisations like Good Neighbour who are impacting our communities for good, we’ve had large contribution go out to charitable organisations in our neighbourhoods since we started almost 8yrs ago.

We realised that lots of small ripples make a big splash – together we could make an even larger difference for our community.

As a business owner I understand the pressures presented in the current economy and thanks to all our sponsors for your continued contribution through all of the ups and down that business presents.

I’d encourage you, as you have already done in the past, to continue to step up. Your community needs you. You have a critical role to play and as we lift those in need in our community, we are all made better for it.

Creative business funding models like Zespri’s Tech for Good programme are examples on how we can think outside of the box. They‘ve created a tech buyback for their staff who are able purchase their old IT equipment back on a donation basis via Give-a-Little.  This has produced $10’s k in funding for Good Neighbour, that would have likely become e-waste – serving the community and the environment in the process.

Over the last year we have seen representatives from both sides of the political isle stop in and see Good Neighbour’s operations first-hand and both sides agree (which doesn’t happen much in politics), that the impact for investment is unmatched if left to the government alone. This community needs Good Neighbour and it needs each and every one of you who show up and support this amazing organization. So thanks for being part of change for good, for being part of the Good Neighbour story and making our community better for doing what you do.”
